China Poker Carnival Releases Schedule

MGM Sanya Resort in Hainan, ChinaMGM Sanya Resort in Hainan, China

From March 18-22, 2012, Sanya MGM Resort  in Hainan, China will witness the running of the China Poker Carnival (CPC). The CPC is the only officially recognised poker tournament in China and now the schedule for its 2012 event has just been announced.

This latest CPC tournament is sponsored by the Asian Poker Tour (APT) and will feature an invitation-only Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of CNY 1 million. This will make it the biggest CPC event ever held to date and help develop poker in a country that’s not known for hosting poker tournaments.

While Macau regularly witnesses record-breaking events each year, the tough government gaming regulations on the mainland and poker’s relative unfamiliarity in the country make it difficult to organise tournaments there. The CPC is one tournament organsier that seems to be successfully breaking through these barriers.

The attractive prize pool on offer in the Main Event is expected to draw in a large field of local and international players, as well as a number of well-known professional players from around Asia and the world. In addition, there will be seven side events running in conjunction with the Main Event. Four of the side events and the final table of the Main Event will be filmed for TV broadcast.
